Podcast Ep. 85: Breathe Into It with Yin Style Yoga

Alligators in Oklahoma who stuck their snouts out so they could breathe as unusual cold froze the water around them inspired a yin style yoga practice which asks you to breathe into discomfort. Like those alligators, when the next climate change crisis hits, and it will, we need to first set ourselves up to breathe. While we breathe into it, waiting, we gather strength, so when the ice melts we are ready to take action to help now or address the root cause.

Visit the Olympic Mountain EarthWisdom Circle (OMEC) site for upcoming guided shamanic experiences. We are adding additional dates facilitated by me and Lori, my HEARTH project co-director, beginning in March. Donations benefit OMEC’s programs supporting indigenous Maya in Guatemala.

Income from my yoga studio used to fund my wildlife rehabilitation work. My yoga studio is now permanently closed, a victim of the COVID pandemic. The turtles and I need your support more than ever. Your monthly sponsorship on Patreon contributes towards needed equipment and supplies for Dancing Turtle Rescue and Rehab, the wildlife rehabilitation clinic in a bus. Thank you for being awesome!

Much love and gratitude to Blair Sutherland for the beautiful intro and background music. Blair is also an outstanding webmaster and makes sure I can share these episodes with you. Thank you, Blair!

Podcast Ep 41: Restore Yourself to Go Against the Flow

From reflection inspired by Nuthatch in Maia Toll’s The Illustrated Bestiary, this episode touches on our reactions to Greta Thunberg’s activism and our own desire (or aversion) to joining the front line of direct action. The gentle yoga practice gets your legs up the wall to restore your energy and invites you to look at challenges from another direction, like a nuthatch.

When you feel restored and are ready to get back into it, you’ll find the Earth-based Spirituality Action Team of the Citizens Climate Lobby here.
